The African delegation of Mariam Makene Tamira, Deputy Mayor, Alfred Cosmas Luanda, Planning Director, and Majaliwa Carlos Byekwaso, City Revenue Accountant visited Leduc County June 9 to 7, 2006. The delegation planned for future projects and identified joint opportunities. The delegation was interested in several sectors including hotel development, eco-tourism, a business centre, tourism initiatives, waste management, gas drilling and exploration, bird watching, diamond mine exploration and food processing.

The highlight of the reception was a signature ceremony, where a joint declaration of cooperation between Alberta’s International Region and Beihai was signed.
