Pat Klak brings over 35 years of business experience to the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Authority (EDA) as Executive Director. Pat’s background encompasses many years as a leader of community volunteers and as a partner in the family business.
Her zest for life-long learning has taken her through University of Alberta courses in business management, supervisory skills and team building and earned her the Canadian Management Professionals designation. Pat graduated from the University of Waterloo’s professional Economic Development Program in September 2000, adding another dimension to her skills as a business counselor and facilitator for eight municipalities.
In her 18 years with the EDA, Pat has seen it evolve from a small office operation with a team of two into an organization of seven full-time professional employees, one part-time employee more than 400 volunteers and 3,000 ambassadors. Pat is past-president of EDA Alberta, a past director on the Economic Developers of Canada (EDAC) Board, past member of the Board of Management of AEDA, and past-president as well as a current member of the Nisku-Leduc Rotary Club. In 2001, Pat was voted Economic Developer of the Year by EDA Alberta and in 2005 received the President's Award from EDA Alberta. Pat mentors and coaches young students of economic development, providing case studies each year for University of Waterloo and has embarked on obtaining her Fellowship designation from the University of Waterloo next year.
