Public Libraries
Today's libraries play a much larger role in Alberta's International Region than one would ever suspect. Not only are they a vast repository of information and an access point to the ever-changing world of the internet, but libraries today offer services such as adult-learning programs, job-searching opportunities, online book catalogues and an active involvement in community development.
Comprised of nearly 50 public libraries, including the Leduc Public Library, the Yellowhead Regional Library is a co-operative library system providing materials, services and expertise to its member libraries and other organizations in meeting their patron's educational, informational, recreational and cultural needs.
As mentioned on the Information and Media page, The Alberta Library is a not-for-profit library consortium who's goal is to increase and improve access to information resources for all Albertans. The Alberta Library is made up of over 250 members including public, post-secondary, government, special and regional libraries. A major feature of the Alberta Library is the ability to search through their TAL Online service which is comprised of over 25 million items in libraries across the province.
The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) is a partnership of four regional library systems: Yellowhead Regional Library, Marigold Regional Library, Northern Lights Library, Peace Library System and their member libraries. This partnership and sharing of resources allows patrons of each member library to search for and request material from any other member library. The requested material will be shipped to the patron's member library as soon as it becomes available.
Libraries offer a wide variety of services and visitors to this site are encouraged to stop by their local library to find out what they can do for you.
