Adult Informal and Short Term
The need to continue one's education as an adult is critical to self-improvement and the betterment of one's situation in life. There are several not-for-profit institutions in Alberta's International Region dedicated to this task.
The Community Education Centre situated in the City of Leduc is just such an institution, where their motto is "Lifelong Learning - The Tool for Living." The Centre has dedicated themselves to improving adult learning in the region since 1974. The centre operates under the jurisdiction of Alberta Learning to facilitate the development and delivery of adult learning opportunities and experiences. Open to residents of the region, the centre offers courses, workshops and programs in a wide variety of study areas including business, computers, adult literacy, family literacy, first aid, personal development interests and more. As well, the public can access learning resources, information, program grants to community agencies and part-time Student Finance Board bursary applications at the centre.
Recently, the centre celebrated its 30th anniversary and continues to serve as a model for other Community Learning Centres in other regions.
